16th century whole palazzo Castello
A whole Renaissance palazzo only 10 minutes from San Marco in a tranquil tucked away spot
A whole Renaissance palazzo only 10 minutes from San Marco in a tranquil tucked away spot
This palace was originally built around 1250, passing to several important famiies down the centuries. In a quiet tucked away location, and unusually with two historically important facades, one on a quiet campo and the other over a very picturesque canal, as well as two water gates, it is noted for its important architectural features, built according to the dictates of the late Gothic style. The original palace's flooring dates back to the mid-13th century
The two façades are very well proportioned. The front facade features a remarkable four-light window with a projecting balcony and two pairs of single-light windows, both within a dentilled frame. All the windows are lancet-arched with the classic late Gothic floret above.
Originally a private residence, the building can operate as a gallery or museum or other mixed/ commercial use, or even return to its original residential use.

Castello
Castello is perhaps the most charming area of Venice, where tourism is fairly minimal. Although only a few minutes from San Marco, it is quiet and residential with a good local feel. Here buildings are more quaint and popular, often displaying towards Arsenale colourful laundry hanging above, giving a sense of busy human activity. It is the perfect area for anyone seeking an authentic Venetian experience and for foodies in the “know” who go there to dine in some of the city’s premier restaurants, such as Al Covo and Corte Sconta.

What attracted us to this property
It was fascinating for us to see this adorable palazzo, still in private hands without ever being divided up. I love this area too - so central yet so quiet...perfetto
