Historic piano nobile Castello Biennale

A stylish restoration and fabulous interior in this primo piano nobile

A stylish restoration and fabulous interior in this primo piano nobile

4 metre high ceilings and original terrazzo flooring form the backdrop to this beautiful apartment close to Biennale and in a charming quiet area of Castello. With lovely canal views, two good terraces and a private garden, as well as a private water gate and boat spot, this property really ticks every box, as well as being very well proportioned for entertaining and having guests.  It offers all the features anyone could possibly want for modern contemporary living in Venice in a very quiet peaceful location.

The apartment has a very large central living space, and in total 11 huge south-east facing insulated windows which flood the apartment with light throughout the day. The French windows in the main living area open onto a long balcony carved in Noto stone, while the handcrafted fireplace is in Verona marble.

Adjoining the main living area is the dining room and ultra-chic large kitchen, connecting to both the terrace and garden, and is a pivotal hub in the house. The garden and private water gate below is accessed from this terrace via a handcrafted iron staircase.

Also on this side is an en-suite double bedroom, with views of the private walled garden. The bathroom is really pleasing, with a large walk in shower, Bisazza tiles, double sinks, and bio-ethanol heating. Natural light comes via a tall french window here too.

On the opposite side of the apartment is a private area with huge master bedroom, a marble bathroom, and a further double bedroom with adjoining large private terrace (37 mq). In addition this part of the house benefits from the same canal views as the main living areas.

The 118 square metre garden, designed by landscape architect Nicolas Lauzeral, is literally an oasis of peace and relaxation. A pathway lined with bamboo trees, jasmine and wisteria leads to the private water gate where a boat can be kept.

What a dream place!

What attracted us to this property

This property ticks every box for a buyer - from spacious terrazzo floored rooms, high ceilings, super light windows, canal views, two terraces, private garden, private water gate and boat jetty. And a top recently done refurbishment.

Castello

Castello is perhaps the most charming area of Venice, where tourism is fairly minimal. Although only a few minutes from San Marco, it is quiet and residential with a good local feel. Here buildings are more quaint and popular, often displaying towards Arsenale colourful laundry hanging above, giving a sense of busy human activity. It is the perfect area for anyone seeking an authentic Venetian experience and for foodies in the “know” who go there to dine in some of the city’s premier restaurants, such as Al Covo and Corte Sconta.
