Waterfront Liberty Villa Lido

A rare and beautiful waterfront villa to restore

A beautiful Liberty villa from the early part of the last century, built by the architect Provino Valle. The divine garden overlooks the lagoon with many established plants and in the shade of a majestic olive tree, planted by the owner’s father when the villa was built.

The main entrance is on the via Sandro Gallo, through a wrought iron gate fashioned by Umberto Bellotto, one of the most renowned artisans of the Lido at the time, who also did interior work on the villa as seen in the images.

The villa, in its original state and requiring a full refurbishment, is currently composed of two separate apartments, and is perfect for a sympathetic restoration to create a truly wonderful waterfront Liberty villa. It is being sold with an approved project for a private mooring boat space.

The ground floor is composed of an entrance hall, 2 main reception rooms, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen.

The first floor is composed of three large reception rooms/bedrooms, kitchen and three terraces (no bathroom currently).

The second floor consists of two further bedrooms, two large mansard spaces with skylights, two bathroooms and terrace overlooking the lagoon.

There is a large basement with good ceiling heights, some natural light and two wc’s.

What attracted us to this property

When we view a new property we are focussing principally on our international clientele and their wish lists, for example historic features, outside space, water access, great views and light. Location is always a consideration, but if we find a truly unique property we may decide it's still worth a look whatever the area - Venice is so small really! The potential for restoration is often a plus, to achieve a truly personalised space. But at the end of the day we always ask ourselves this one deciding question: do we actually LIKE this property? If it ticks lots of boxes but doesn't feel right, we prefer not to take it on.

I love the Lido, and this original in villa fascinates me, a vestige of an elegant  and well lived past. The Lido remains an authentic and classic Italian resort with wonderful beaches, with the added bonus of being 20 minutes by boat to one of the most important historical centres in the world

Location

Lido

In the 20s and 30s the Lido was the summer destination of the wealthy European establishment. Vestiges of its glorious past are still visible in the gorgeous Liberty villas dotting the island. In today’s age, the tourists who enjoy this great barrier island enclosing the lagoon and facing the Adriatic Sea are a bit less pretentious, nevertheless the Lido continues to be a fun and relaxing place to be, only 10 minutes from San Marco.
