Venice is an international art city currently attracting property investors at the highest level. Artistic foundations as well as private individuals are purchasing properties in glorious historical palaces in this unique city, only a short flight from London, Paris and Hamburg. Venice is opening up very much in terms of facilities, including fabulous hotels with spas, and is the backdrop for high profile events such as the film festival, the Art Biennale and Regatta Storica, attracting super yachts and international visitors each year.
While the property market may be slowing down at the middle level due to the general economic climate and the effect of the Euro exchange rate, this has not impacted at the top level - at this level the market is very active with competition from foreign buyers for the top Grand Canal properties and palaces.
